Dr. Gustavson Won a Top Dentist Of Madison Award 2015!

A third-generation dentist, Dr. Mark Gustavson grew up knowing what a difference good health care could make. He spent summers during college doing finish carpentry, and it was then that his career choice was solidified. “I wanted to effect change in people’s lives,” he explained, “but also continue to work with my hands.”

At Affiliated Dentists, Dr. Gustavson strives to strike the right balance between accessibility and familiarity. They have east and west locations in Madison, and they accept almost all insurance plans. The Affiliated Dentists team knows their patients well, and they have the capacity to work people in without long waits.

What Is the Top Dentist Award?

Annually, health care professionals including dentists and hygienists from all around the Madison area participate in nominating their peers for what is known as Madison’s Top Dentists. Reviews are based on several criteria such as the dentist’s years of experience, patient satisfaction results and the number of successful dental cases completed. Years of continuing education, as well as the types of technology and materials they use in their procedures is a consideration. Once nominated, the state dental board ensures all licensing is in good standing before the award is given to the dentist.

A Little About Dr. Gustavson

He earned his B.A. in Chemistry at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, where he won the J. Raymond Gill award for excellence in clinical prosthodontics.

After dental school he completed a general practice residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The residency focused on full mouth reconstructions in fixed and removable prosthodontics.

Drawn by the excellent quality of life, Dr. Gustavson moved to Madison nine years ago. Dr. Gustavson lives in Madison with his wife, Katie and his children, Tyra, Cullen and Evelyn. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Madison Seattle Study Club which focuses on comprehensive treatment in collaboration with the specialists in the area.

In his free time Mark is an avid cyclist. He annually completes the Horribly Hilly Hundreds bike event out of Blue Mound State Park, but gets more enjoyment out of riding their tandem bicycle with his children. Along with cycling he is on the Affiliated Dentists basketball team, with three patients, that plays in the Verona Men’s League. When not chasing the kids around and exercising he enjoys Badger basketball and football.
